My name is Okky and I work as a journalist in KompasTV, Indonesia.
I’ve been working since December 2012 to present.
In September 2015 – Sept 2016, I was taking my annual leave to pursue my master degree.
I’ve got an MSc from Media Management at Centre for Culture and Policy Research at the University of Glasgow, Scotland. My study is funded by LPDP (Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education).
During my study in Glasgow, I was appointed as public relations for PPI (Indonesian Student Association) in Glasgow. We had almost 100 students as a member of PPI.
In July 2016, PPI and Rumah Cemara collaborated on Homeless World Cup 2016. I became one of media officials that responsible for producing press releases, photo and video at every Indonesian’s match at that street football international event.
As a journalist, I mainly covered political stories.
In 2014 General Elections I twice became an embedded reporter.
– for Legislative election, I embedded Mr Aburizal Bakrie (the leader of Golkar party)
– for Presidential election, I embedded Mr Jusuf Kalla (vice presidential candidate).
When Mr Jokowi and Jusuf Kalla elected, I assigned to be a reporter for Vice Presidential Office and covered the activities and policies from Mr Kalla’s office.
I also covered other current affairs such as disasters:
– landslide in Banjarnegara (Dec 2014)
– heavy flood in Eastern Java (Dec 2013)
